There are 4 places to configure Google Chat notifications before they work correctly.
- In Google Chat itself
- Click the gear icon (settings)
- Make sure the first 3 sections look like this
- In your Chrome browser
- Click the paddlock to the left of the URL
- Make sure that the Notifications setting says "Allow"
- In Windows
- Click your Windows button and search for "Notifications & actions settings"
- Make sure "Get notifications from apps and other senders" is turned On
- Make sure under "Get notifications from these senders" that Google Chrome is turned On
- In Windows
- Click your Windows button and search for "Focus Assist"
- Make sure the setting is "Off"
If you still aren’t getting desktop notifications:
- Make sure that your availability button within Chat (at top left) is "Active"
- Make sure you haven't clicked "Turn off notifications" on any group or conversation
Note: These settings are part of the Google Chat training video I created for Minars (here). We could do something similar, but break it out better (only include these instructions) and remove PHI data.
